Amazon Adds LTL Labels, Regional Pricing for Bulky-Item Sellers

September 30, 2026

Amazon is building out its tools for sellers of heavy and bulky goods, Supply Chain Dive reported on September 30. At its Amazon Accelerate 2026 conference in Seattle, the company said sellers will be able to buy less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping labels through Amazon Buy Shipping, in Seller Central and in third-party shipping software, starting in October. Regional delivery pricing for heavy and bulky items is to follow in early 2027, letting sellers set delivery fees by region instead of charging one flat rate everywhere.

The announcements were made by Ripley MacDonald, vice president of product and software development at Amazon Supply Chain Services, who called big and bulky shipments one of the company’s fastest-growing merchant categories. Amazon also plans to connect sellers with local carriers for same-day or next-day delivery within 100 miles of warehouses, tied to Seller Flex, its invite-only program for sellers who fill orders from their own facilities. “And your customers see a specific delivery date at checkout instead of a range,” MacDonald said. According to Amazon, sellers using Seller Flex for heavy and bulky orders see more than 2.5 times the sales of those shipping such orders on their own.

Amazon is not the only retailer investing here. Supply Chain Dive noted that Costco expanded its Costco Logistics delivery service for appliances and furniture in 2024, that Wayfair invested in expanding its CastleGate logistics arm for big and bulky home goods in 2025, and that The Home Depot has launched real-time delivery tracking for large items.

What it means for shippers

  • Buyers of large items are being shown a date. Amazon plans to show a specific delivery date at checkout for these orders instead of a range. Sellers of furniture, appliances and other large goods elsewhere will be compared with that.
  • Home delivery of freight is not a parcel drop. A pallet or a crated appliance going to a house needs a truck with a liftgate, a delivery appointment and often two people. Arrange these when you book, not at the curb.
  • Decide how far the delivery goes. Curbside, threshold, room of choice and full setup with packaging removal are different services at different prices. State the level on your product page and on the bill of lading.
  • Price delivery by distance. Regional pricing reflects a simple fact: delivering a sofa across town costs less than delivering it across the country. Sellers who offer free or low-cost delivery near their warehouse and charge realistic rates farther away protect their margins.
  • Read the terms before you rely on a new program. The LTL label option and regional pricing are new. Eligibility, rates and claims handling are set by Amazon and its carriers, so check the program terms for your account.
